A sheet lying in my cupboard for a very long time … it’s meant to be a bed cover. It was too small to cover my bed.
It’s a printed cotton sheet I brought with me from India. I’ve used it a few times as a table sheet and when one of my friends asked if I could make her a bag with black in it my mind lit up 🤩
The pattern is something I’ve seen on Facebook many times … https://fb.watch/akW6Sj09eF/. I thought I would try it out.
I’m sure as I make more my hand will set but I’m quite happy with the results.

I have enough left to make another bag and the scraps will be lovely to use in a hexie cushion cover … lots of little projects floating around the New Year Brain 😍
2022 … Project 1
Love the petal shape of the bag, and the colours and shapes in the fabric are wonderfully bold and beautiful together.

I’ve been wanting to make this for a while and it has come out well. I wanted to make one with a faux leather straps. Will call and pick your brains 🧠🤩

Off to Specsavers this morning! You can make vinyl straps quite easily, but you’ll need latex-based adhesive (something like Copydex), and a chisel-tipped leather needle for stitching them or the vinyl will tear. I can talk you through it.

I think Heather has those needles
Can you get the latex from spotlight?

If you can’t find Copydex, you can use fabric glue. You just need to ensure that it remains flexible and clear when dry.

I like how the shape of the bag and the fabric pattern echo each other ♡
