Good morning from Dargo High Country Victoria

We have been here a couple of days now and have done a track called Blue Rag & the word Rag invokes a heartbeat as I love making Rag Quilts.

The piece I’m posting is a very simple and elegant piece of work done a few months ago and I think perfect for today 😍

The jacket is new but the ‘Zarri’ work on the border of the jacket is an old “Dupatta” (Indian scarf worn with clothes which is fairly long)

As the border of this scarf is still in very good condition but the actual scarf is a bit worn from lots of use I have cut it off and added it as a border to my jacket 🤩

Unique and definitely like no other in the market 👌

Good morning and again it’s the 15th of the next month.

This time I am actually on as I have worked out all the kinks and falls that go along with the New phone and I’m able to post on time.

Today Marks the 23rd anniversary for my sister and brother-in-law and what were away to show my love then to make them something that my sister has been wanting for a little while now.

A couple of years ago I had made them some chair backs and she has been using them constantly and has been asking me to make her a new set when I have the time.

So the whole process has been a Scrap happy process where the lace used for the top is antique and picked up at an op shop in Country Victoria almost a year ago to be used at some stage. I had thought I could use it as a topper for my table but found there were a few rips in the crochet and so I decided I would use this and cut around those spots.

The backing is again something that has been given to me by a friend who had all this surplus material lying around and did not want to throw it away. Needless to say this material is about 10 years old and still in very good condition.

It was quite fiddly to put together as the lace is a little bit hard to work with and hold in place, but I have made the chair backs for my sisters sofas. We will be going over a bit later with some cake, and I’m hoping she will be happy with these.

And so presenting….

Looking forward to another month of sewing and babysitting and baking and all things good.

Another baby quilt… this time for a girl who is yet to be born 🩷

This little one’s mama went to high school with my youngest daughter who was a bridesmaid at her wedding and now she’s having a baby.

Knowing this child for so many years she’s like another daughter to me and next week she’s having her baby shower 🥰

What better way to show my love & excitement than to make her a little quilt for her baby 🚼

And so …

I love making Rag Quilts as they are so soft and cuddly 💝

Good morning and welcome to “The Season”

Again we are in the middle of the month and only 10 days to go to Christmas 🎄

This month has been (in my book at least) the best Scrappy project ever ….

We now have two Grandbabies and “Papa” said he wanted them to have an advent calendar and could we buy them one …

As ‘The daughter’ is particular about sweets and chocolates with a toddler we decided it had to be something that they could enjoy without being given something and then told you cannot eat it till after dinner … toddlers have no sense of time & so there would obviously be a bit of drama each time if there were chocolates …

I put on my thinking cap and decided I was going to make them one … as I am of the opinion hand made is heart made 🩷💙

Every bit of the “Calendar” is scrappy …
