SCRAPHAPPY MARCH 2025

We are here again & oh what a month it has been πŸ₯Ί

This month the Heart I have made from scraps is a tribute to my Dad who I lost on 19th February 😒

I have another heart in process and it will eventually be a quilt I make for my mum …

It will have a printed picture of my dad as well so a happy reminder for my mum when she uses it 🀍 67 years of togetherness 🫢 So so hard to believe He’s not here anymore πŸ’”

HAPPY 2nd BIRTHDAY TO MY GRAND DAUGHTER πŸ€

I made a tiny quilt for my grand baby when she was born to do β€œtummy time” on…

I made another in pink & white soon after…

I decided then that each birthday she will get a quilt made by Nana.

As she’s growing she is learning quickly so I made a quilt with letters & her name in the centre along with pictures of her year 12-23 months 🫢

Needless to say we are having a good time playing on it (she does want to pull the letters off πŸ˜† I’m glad I sewed them on even tho they could be ironed on )

ScrapHappy February 2025

This month has been a very hard month for me & my family & will continue to be so for s time I think.

Again the one thing that brings me peace & semblance of normality is my sewing πŸͺ‘

I started these a month ago as presents for friends but I’ve not had time to complete them.

They understand where I’m at & I will get it to them eventually.

A toaster cover … to be completed βœ”οΈ
The corners need to turned out and secured with a button

SCRAPHAPPY JANUARY 2025

Good morning and a very happy New Year.

Hope everyone had a wonderful season and is happy to be entering 2025. No better way to start the year then with the Scrap happy post !

I as usual have little or no time these days to sit at my machine but I do make sure that I sit and do something every couple of days or I feel a headache coming on From withdrawal symptoms and lack of sewing πŸ˜€

Another tissue box cover which is extremely easy to make as the Christmas one I have put away the other one this dresses up the box beautifully 😍

SCRAPHAPPY NOVEMBER 2024

Good morning and we are in November!!

Time flies when we have fun 🀩

This month I present a coverlet… it’s all scrappy and I call it my shabbyChic cover 🫢

The pieces are an old quilt cover which already had the sewing on it . I used the back of the cover as a backing and didn’t not put any batting in between as I want to use it over summer when it’s not too cold and not too hot.

As always the Rag Style does make it softer and very easy to complete quickly!

Now the lace border …..

I have lace curtains on all my front windows and for years the length has been just a little too long πŸ€— I have been meaning to trim it but something or the other distracts me and I never got around to doing it. There is family coming over from England for the son’s wedding early December and so a bit of house maintenance has been under way ☺️ Part of that maintenance has been to put in new drapes … so the old ones taken off and new ones installed… the lace is perfectly good but needed a wash so that has been done and now on reinstalling I have actually cut it down to size !!! Five years later but it’s done βœ”οΈπŸ€©

I love lace and I rolled it up and onto my sewing table it went. Husband asked why I was keeping it and I just gave a look πŸ‘€πŸ˜„ How can I throw that away !!!

Well as you can see it has come into use and makes a plain cover look chic. I’m very happy with the results and I now have something to throw over myself when watching TV 😍

Here’s to one more post of ScrapHappiness this year and can’t wait to see all the blogs today β™₯️

ScrapHappy October 2024

Good morning

We blinked & it’s now October…. The rest of the world is orange and we are in spring 😊

It’s been a doozy few months as there’s been a lot happening & not all good. But as I see it life has to balance out & we have to have the bad to appreciate the good.

Colours have always made me happy as I come from a country that has vibrant colours everywhere and however down or blue you might be feeling, just being amongst colours lifts your spirits & gives you the β€˜ummph’ to carry on.

There has not been much time to make things as I’ve been occupied with more pressing matters & I needed some quick & easy to rest my mind & heart along with some colour to make me want to sing 🎢

Well hunting through my scraps I brought out these colours and make a simple pot holder.

It literally took me half an hour to make and will be on my kitchen counter all the time to help with the warm pots & pans…. And I know it will bring me heaps of joy whenever I look at it.. πŸ’

Here’s to hopefully a lot more sewing before Christmas comes but again one day at a time is a good motto to follow πŸ™

Scraphappy September 2024

Sorry I missed last month but having lost a close friend I wasn’t in any state of mind 😞

We did travel to another state to attend the memorial and I made something for my friends wife & partner of 34 years 🀍

I had a few bandannas left over from a rag quilt I had made for myself a couple of years ago & as my friend’s wife loves everything Indian I used these to make her a lap quilt.

She was happy we went over to condole and reminisce with her and she was very happy with her gift. πŸ’

A simple rag quilt
Made with so much love 🧑
A matching bag from the last two bandannas to hold the quilt & his ashes were carrried to the serviceman in it 🩡

REST IN PEACE MY FRIEND πŸ€πŸ™πŸ€

BORDER RUN DAY 2

700kms again today 🀩

Not as many stops as we only left at 8am instead of 5am 🀩

Realised I had left one of my meds at home so a mad scramble to get onto my pharmacist to send me a script and then to find a pharmacy out here to fill it which was a bit hard seeing as all these towns are tiny…. But managed to do all that before 10am so that was a bonus.

Had to try and beat the sun going down as we don’t fancy riding in the dark with trucks bearing down on us from behind and in front … we did that and got to Wudinna by 5:20pm

Places we passed through;

Morgan

Burra

Crystal Brook

Port Augusta

Iron knob

Kimba…. Halfway across Australia πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί

And then Wudinna 😍

Crossing the bridge to Renmark
Waiting for my script to be filled 🀩
Pumpkin soup in Burra
The back of beyond
Halfway across Australia πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί
Angel πŸ˜‡ clouds in the sky
Riding into the sunset πŸŒ…

Another 700kms today and we reach our destination and there to stay for two nights meeting all the other riders who do this run every year. A few of our ST club members will be here too.

Happy Friday my friends πŸ™β™₯οΈπŸ™
