SCRAPHAPPY APRIL 2025

How time flies and we are here again doing what we love ❤️

I am in the process of making a rag quilt for myself which has been in the making for a while now (that seems to be my trend these days )

On squaring off my fat quarters I have these bits left over and I always make a cushion cover from the bits left to have a matching cushion for my bed.

I find doing these “little” projects help take the stress off my hands using the ragging scissors ✂️

Next blog …. THE QUILT 🤩

Dunedoo Silo Art – New South Wales

Another day …. Another Silo !!! Did not expect it & it was the icing on the cake for me 😍

“The Dunedoo Silo side one and two have been painted by Peter Mortimore over three months during July, August and September of 2020.

Depicted on the side silo is Winx, a retired champion Australian thoroughbred racehorse and her famous rider Hugh Bowman, who was born in Dunedoo. Also featured is Chris Waller, Winx’s trainer, whom without this very famous horse may not have been the true champion that she was.

Side two silo displays the local fauna and flora.

Daniel Krause, assisted by Jarad Danby painted the third and final stage of the Dunedoo Silos.

They were completed in June 2021 and depict the likeness of Daniel’s own son reading a book in a wheat field.”

Hopefully we see more ….

SILO ART BARRABA NSW

The town of Barraba is located 99 kms north of Tamworth and is situated on the Manilla river in the heart of the Nandewar Rangers in New South Wales.

The Barraba Silos are privately owned by Simon and Amanda Koopman and are located at the southern entrance to town on Manilla Road.

Extract from Fintan Magee’s Artist Statement

This mural depicts a local water diviner searching for groundwater, using a y-shaped twig or rod or two L-shaped ones. Diviners study the landscape of a farm and walk over areas where they suspect the water may be located. Ground minerals and magnetic forces force the sticks to cross or be pushed downwards when water is located. Despite many studies claiming the technique is pseudo-science, diviners continue to be used throughout Australia as a way of finding groundwater.

Work began on the silos on the 25 March 2019 and they were completed just 24 days later on the 19 of April. The Barraba Silos are officially the 28th silos to be included in the Australian Silo Art Trail Collection.

Catching Art on a Silo is very special to me as I’m always following artists who do this amazing work!

Japanese Garden Toowoomba

“The Toowoomba Japanese Garden ‘Ju Raku En’ – translated from Japanese to mean “enjoying peace and longevity in a public place” – is renowned for its stunning representation of traditional Japanese landscape design.

Developed and maintained by the University of Southern Queensland (USQ), with sections owned by both USQ and the Toowoomba Regional Council, the three hectare garden attracts in excess of 100,000 visitors annually. It features a central lake, three separate ‘islands’ and tree groves.”

NATIONAL RALLY 2025

Another year and this year the ST1300 Honda Motorcycle Club is having it in Toowoomba Queensland Australia 🇦🇺

Since we joined the club in 2016 we have attended the AGM each year and this year it’s in Toowoomba which is 1600kms away from home … home being Melbourne for us 👌

This meant a nice LONG ride for hubster & me.

We broke the journey up into 400kms per day as I need to take a break each day and a 400km day is usually about 6 hours on the road with a few breaks to stretch and hydrate.

4 days of riding with stops in Jerilderie, Parkes, Narrabri & finally Toowoomba… 1600kms in total… crossed 2 state lines NSW & QLD… we are here to celebrate another year of riding our motorcycles 🏍️ & meeting our friends from all over Australia & Tasmania again.

Open roads fill my heart with joy & passion for riding hopefully will never fade 🤍

SCRAPHAPPY MARCH 2025

We are here again & oh what a month it has been 🥺

This month the Heart I have made from scraps is a tribute to my Dad who I lost on 19th February 😢

I have another heart in process and it will eventually be a quilt I make for my mum …

It will have a printed picture of my dad as well so a happy reminder for my mum when she uses it 🤍 67 years of togetherness 🫶 So so hard to believe He’s not here anymore 💔

HAPPY 2nd BIRTHDAY TO MY GRAND DAUGHTER 🤍

I made a tiny quilt for my grand baby when she was born to do “tummy time” on…

I made another in pink & white soon after…

I decided then that each birthday she will get a quilt made by Nana.

As she’s growing she is learning quickly so I made a quilt with letters & her name in the centre along with pictures of her year 12-23 months 🫶

Needless to say we are having a good time playing on it (she does want to pull the letters off 😆 I’m glad I sewed them on even tho they could be ironed on )
