SCRAPHAPPY APRIL 2022

A Story ….

Once upon a time …. In a land far far away ….
Oops wrong story …. 🤩

This story is about 7 cushion covers … they were made for the cushions in my lounge… however they were too big for the cushions…. I did use them but only once …. And being big the edges tipped forward like ears 😳…
So they sat in my basket 🧺 for a long time …
I would NEVER EVER throw them out … so I did the next best thing…. I made it into a foot rug for my bed. I have one cover left over so I can use that to dress up my pillows … A job done ✔️ and I’m very happy 😊
The end …. (Well to this quilt story anyway 😄)

The cushion covers made last year…
You can see the floppy ears !!
The cushion inserts were filled with batting cut to size & I did FMQ all over & then used the QAYG method to join …
A ScrapHappy Rug for the foot of my bed 🥰

ScrapHappy is open to anyone using up scraps of anything – no new materials. It can be a quilt block, pincushion, bag or hat, socks or a sculpture. Anything made of genuine scraps is eligible. If your scrap collection is out of control and you’d like to turn them into something beautiful or useful instead of leaving them to collect dust in the cupboard, why not join us on the 15th of each month? Either email Kate at the address on my Contact Me page. You can also contact Gun via her blog to join. We welcome new members. You don’t have to worry about making a long term commitment or even join in every month, just let either of us know a day or so in advance if you’re new and you’ll have something to show, so we can add your link. Regular contributors will receive an email reminder three days before the event.

Here are the links for everyone who joins ScrapHappy from time to time (they may not post every time, but their blogs are still worth looking at).

Happy 😊

Well actually my Aunt is…..

My dads brother drove up from Sydney last week (very impressive as he’s 78 years old !) and was here with us for a few days and celebrated my mums birthday with us.

He went home on Thursday and I sent a quilt to my aunt who loves quilts and I have not seen her in over three years!!!!

She rang me this morning and we video chatted as she wanted to show me where she had placed it. I couldn’t believe how perfect it was for the single bed in her spare room … I told her I will make her a matching cushion cover and she’s thrilled 🤩

When my quilts bring joy my job is done ✔️

I’M SO EGGSITED 🐣

Nothing like the anticipation of an event or a day.

After finishing another quilt for another friend I’ve just realised it’s about two weeks away from Easter.

As I always love having something new to commemorate the occasion every year …. I want to carry on that tradition this year again.

Again nothing better than handmade. So out came the box with my fabric to see what I may have in Easter colours.

I have yellow….purple… and a combination of both …

So I got cutting and stitching to see what the cushion covers for my lounge would look like. There will be a matching table runner with the left over fabrics.

A preview 🤩

Once the seven covers and table runner is on I’ll post again 😍
