BILLY GOATS BLUFF

You will need more than a keen sense of adventure to tackle the Billy Goat Bluff Track. The iconic track is listed as one of the most challenging in the country. But if you have previous 4WD experience and enjoy a challenge, you can take on the high country hills with confidence( which hubby mine has in spades 🀩)

There are a few things to consider when taking on the track and the surrounding area of Alpine National Park including the track’s conditions….
We came here with all intentions of doing this track again… but this mornings skies did not give us much hope….

The track begins at the intersection of Wonnangatta Road and Billy Goat Bluff track in the Alpine National Park, near Dargo. The Billy Goat Bluff track difficulty level is high. It’s considered one of the hardest drives not only in Victoria but all of Australia. For good reason, the Billy Goat Bluff track is listed as one of Australia’s most dangerous and challenging roads. The track is extremely narrow and edged with cliff faces, making passing oncoming vehicles a challenge.

We decided to at least drive to the head of the track and make a decision from there …. The skies cleared up enough for sometime & so we bit the bullet and let the air down from the tyres & turned on the Diff Locks … engaged 4 wheel drive & headed onto the track ….

We managed the track to the helipad which is the halfway point and only place to turn around …. We did turn back as the skies started doing very ominous things …
Happy that we were able to tackle the track once again ❀️

And so it starts β€¦.

262 days of lockdown has taken most of our year away… it’s been long and hard … but it’s also had it’s positive side… We have had work all the way through… the kids have had work all the way through … we have had lots of family time and lots of other things in between.

But with vaccination rates going up & up we have all been let out. We all need to live with the virus unfortunately and here’s praying that it becomes easier as time passes.

It’s the first time in a few months we have been able to head out into the country… something we love doing. Victoria is beautiful any time of year ( but then again I’m biased πŸ˜€), and when you have been under lock & key for so long it’s marvellous to get out.

We chose to come to a little town called Dargo…. located 348 kilometres east of Melbourne, in the Shire of Wellington. It’s a tiny little town with lots of green lush rolling hills all around. I found an Off Grid Retreat & we are here for some R&R for the next couple of nights 😍

ScrapHappy OCTOBER 2021

Another month here & it’s that time again….all the lovely ScrapHappy posts are going up 😍

This month I have two to share with everyone…

The first one is a bit different from the usual….

ITS A BAR MADE BY MY HUBSTER & IS COMPLETELY RECYCLED & SCRAPPY 🀩

It’s made from old pallets we had lying in our backyard for a while as it was used for delivering retaining blocks .
The top is made from leftover bamboo floorboards & the bar stool on the right is also made from pieces of timber lying around from previous projects 🀩

The second is a scrappy table runner which looks very β€œChristmassy” & I’ll be using it for sure 😍It’s made from two pillow cases my mum gave me with a matching quilt( which I’m still to cut up & use ) It’s lovely and bright & definitely a keeper !

As you can see it looks perfect on my table!

Here are the links for everyone who joins ScrapHappy from time to time (they may not post every time, but their blogs are still worth looking at).

Oh Joy 🎢

For someone who is a β€œhomebody” I am a person who likes to travel. We have now completed almost 260 days in lockdown and have been given the title of the most lockdown city in the world. I do realise it is something that has needed to happen to control the virus that is so rampant in Victoria however it has put a damp cloth on our travels.

We have been given a few liberties one of which now is being able to travel 15 km from home. As a result I was determined to use that 15 km this weekend to get out and actually do something that I enjoy which surprise surprise is being on the bike.

Keeping a keen eye on the weather my initial plan was to go for a bike ride with my husband on our red bike to any beach which was 15 km away from us. However we propose and the kids dispose… Our eldest needed her father and brother to help out with some hands-on work which only boys can do according to her. I of course would not attempt even though I would have loved to help…. As a result the day was taken up and our plans to head out was put on hold.

Saturday dawned bright and beautiful and after a cuppa Jonathan and we donned our riding gear which was quite alien to say the least ,as it’s been almost 4 months since we’ve actually put on any riding gear. We headed out and enjoyed the wind in our hair (through the helmet) πŸ˜ƒ

I would have loved it to be the wide open roads that we are so used to … but the very fact that we were actually on the motorcycle and riding … it didn’t really matter where we were going.

And so we ended up at the beach in Seaford where again there were lots of people around but everybody was wearing their masks and they were in their groups of twos and threes . The beach being nice and open lots of people could still take joy in the great outdoors.

Motorcycle gear is not the best to walk around in but hand-in-hand we did stroll and as always I had the best time taking pictures. It was a lovely day spent doing what we enjoy doing the most and thankful that we are well and safe and even though we feel restricted it is for our own safety. Things seem to be looking up including the number of virus’ here but we all seem to be on track and getting vaccinated and looking towards living a Covid normal. οΏΌ

Here’s to another 2 1/2 weeks of lockdown and then a few more freedoms….

Pink πŸ’

This little girl is due at the end of this month and I’m very good friends with her soon to be Granma.

How else do I show my love and anticipation for the little one except by doing what I love πŸ’•

A baby quilt and this one has soft lace on it. It’s a simple one but I love the colours & simplicity of it.

And so I present β€œ Pink”

KaiRTEm

24th September our little Kai was born. A beautiful little boy πŸ‘¦ A grandson to my cousin G ❣️

β€œOn the night you were born, the moon smiles with such wonder that the stars peeked in to see you… & the night wind whispered … LIFE WILL NEVER BE THE SAME !!”

How else can a grand aunt celebrate the coming of a new nephew other than making something special for him 😊

And so I present my simple cuddly …

An everlasting hug πŸ€—
